John Sterling is a medically retired U.S. Army Noncommissioned Officer and completed his active-duty service as a Military Intelligence professional. John also served and was certified as an Army Master Resiliency Trainer. In this role he taught critical resiliency skills for career sustainment and enhancement to hundreds of service members and their families on military installations throughout the world. In 2017 John was privileged to co-facilitate a resiliency training with the clinical psychologist for U.S. Army Special Operations while serving in the Republic of South Korea.

Prior to his retirement, John grew his leadership acumen by serving in the Veteran non-profit space, and in 2017 founded Azimuth Leadership LLC, a platform which focuses on personal transition, resiliency, and behavioral health through culturally competent conversations in sports, military, educational and corporate communities. In 2019 John launched T.E.A.M (Transition-Empowerment-Advocacy-Mindset) which includes annual summits, roundtable discussions, a weekly peer-to-peer support huddle, and monthly podcast. In 2022, John made his most authentic and important leadership decision which resulted in the creation of Alpha Leadership Foundation. In his own words, “The genesis of Alpha was being “awoken from broken” after I began to understand how an Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs) impacted my life. This realization has allowed me to lean into critical lived experiences for a new leadership opportunity to help other males with these experiences survive and thrive.”
